Using an early 24" iMac as a 2nd screen?
Could I use my 24" early 2008 iMAC as a 2nd screen by connecting it to a new 14" Mac Book Pro that I ordered today?

No you cannot use your 2008 iMac as an external display. Please refer to Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support . If you need an external display for the new MBP, please buy one, they begin at under $100 and are simple to setup and use.

Nope' not using a wired connection because neither of those Mac's support Target Display Mode.

You can only use macOS Screen Sharing or a third party app like Luna Display.
