Multiple devices list signed in with the same name

I sign into my phone and I have the same laptop name signed in about 10 times!?? It is classing these as different devices when there is obviously only one laptop. How and why did this happen?

How do I know which one is the correct one as it doesn't show dates or anything at all? This is ridiculous! AGAIN Apple making things harder than they need to be.

My icloud only shows phone and NO laptops.

My appleID on browser and phone shows 10 laptops all same name and a few other variants.

WTF!?

Thanks for clarifying and providing the screenshot SimDiesel,

From the looks of things, it may be that some of the entries are duplicated, because the PCs name varies. Identifying the current name of your PC may help narrow things down. Microsoft - Do you need help locating your computer name?

Hi Jdo, thanks for that. Using a PC not a Mac but same result either way.

I’ll attach a screenshot below for you, and you’ll see all these devices which is my same machine but there multiple times. And from the web browser under devices it only has my phone and nothing else - hence my confusion 🤣

also, there is only the one laptop and I can’t work out which one is the correct one? Only thing I can think of is if I remove ALL of them and then only sign in so the right one will show, but surely there’s an easier way and again not sure why/how it could have happened in the first place.

We see you linked here from Check your Apple ID device list to see where you're signed in.

To be sure we understand, when viewing signed in devices from the web, you see only your iPhone, and Mac each listed once, is that right? Where is it that you're seeing the Mac listed multiple times? Is this showing in System Preferences on the Mac, or Settings on your iPhone?

Does the name of the Mac include a number in parenthesis? If so, the the most recently added would be the one with the highest number in parenthesis.

Have you restored the Mac, or signed out and back into iCloud previously?
