Why does safari automatically go to yahoo when in the safari preferences I chose to put it in google

My safari randomly started automatically searching yahoo when it was just previously searching google. I checked in the preferences and made sure that it was google, I went to google.com to make it the normal but I couldn't find anything and I don't know how to change it back to google.

Thank you for your help

I have had this problem for some time as well. I constantly check the Extensions in Safari (hangs in a black screen) and through System Preferences (no Yahoo) and nothing. Yahoo has taken over both my Safari and Google Chrome. Very frustrating and less capable search engine. Please help Apple.

There are no known Windows-like Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS, because of the underling UNIX  Foundation and Permission Limitation.

The The Built in Security  is all that is required to protect the computer.

Should “ Certain & Specific Software “ referenced from above be installed - it will negatively impact macOS. It is suggested, to download directly from a respected ASC Contributor, the application Malwarebytes for Mac

It is free or paid for added features.

Run the Application and it should remove the malware / adware. Once done, restart computer and test.

There are Malware-viruses and Adware-viruses that does affect macOS and are often times downloaded as part of an Application from Third Party UnTrusted Site and get installed along with the Application.

I’m also having this problem and have found from online searches that there is a virus that redirects from Google to Yahoo. I think the point is to then direct you to false sites or collect information from you. There is information online about how to get rid of it but I’m personally having a hard time doing it.
