Recovering files from old MacBook

Hello,

I have a fairly old MacBook (2007), which has a broken screen. It's very dark grey, and I can almost see the folder icons on the desktop. Now, I want to copy my files to USB, but since I can't really see anything, my question is if there is any way I can recover my files?

Thanks

Gerrit

In addition to @ku4hx's suggestions you can also remove the hard drive and connect it to another Mac using a USB to SATA Adapter, drive dock, or enclosure.

Plus make sure the brightness is at maximum in case it was lowered.

What OS version do you have? Possibilities that come to mind immediately are an attached monitor or AirPlay. AirPlay will work to screen mirror to a TV but its main limitation is resolution. I've actually moved movie files from one disk to another using AirPlay to a 50" flat screen TV, but I'd use it only if you can't attach an external monitor.

If you have access to another Mac, you might can use Target Disk Mode.
