Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

Try charging your iPhone again with your MagSafe Battery Pack without either plugged in to external power. See if the issue gets resolved.

That is reverse charging. The only way your iPhone will charge the MagSafe Battery Pack is when the iPhone itself is plugged-in to a 20W+ Charger and is charged to more than 80%. At this point, it will begin charging the Battery Pack if it needs the charge. The purpose here is to charge the iPhone and the Battery Pack at the same time.

This should not happen if there is no external power connected to the iPhone or the Battery Pack. In this scenario, the MagSafe Battery Pack will continue to charge the iPhone.

Under which of the two conditions mentioned above, do you notice your MagSafe Battery Pack being charged by the iPhone?

Hi Axel, Thank you for your response.

I literally connected the MagSafe Battery Pack to the phone and instead of charging is taking away the battery. There wasn't any cable connected either to the phone itself or the MagSafe Battery Pack. My phone was at 40% when i put the magsafe and it went going down until the phone was at 1%, I don't know what happens. need help! :(

I did what you told me, i think it worked but the phone got only 1%, but for that to happen I had to put the phone away with the screen off.

After I did the procedure you told me, I put the battery pack to the phone at 11:32pm with 83% and by 11:54pm went to 84% the phone only got 1% during that time. it is charging now but my concern is why does not charge when im using the phone? the battery percentage goes down while im using the phone with the battery pack sticked to it.

is It normal to be that slow?

If you have no charging wires connected to the iPhone or the MagSafe Battery Pack, then it charges your iPhone with a very slow 5W charge. Couple that to the iPone dropping charging speed after 80% and you get a very slow combination. I recommend that you test the combination of the MagSafe Battery Pack and your iPhone when the MagSafe Battery Pack is at 100% and the iPhone is between 60% and 70%. Test out all charging combinations at those levels and note what you find.

if things do not noticeably improve at those charge levels, then have the MagSafe Battery Pack examined at the Apple Store and even your iPhone as well.

I am hoping that you are using an iPhone 12 or 13 and have a battery health reading of over 80%.
