microsoft onedrive and big sur upgrading from Catalina help

I have Onedrive working with Catalina on a 2018 iMAC its working fine and I sync all documents between MAC OS and WINDOWS 10 machines. My question is if I update to Big Sur will Onedrive stop syncing and will I need to do a resync. This is a big issue as I have 2-3 TB data and so would take days to perform (as I found out when I had an issue with Onedrive on my windows machine and had to completely re install/sync). Or, after the update to Big Sur will it just continue to work as it did with Catalina without the need to re sync. `Appreciate any feedback from anyone who uses MS Onedrive and has updated from Catalina to Sur.

If you want to be absolutely sure

disable sync before upgrading
copy the OneDrive folder contents to external
upgrade
examine OneDrive folder and restore-overwrite contents from external if in doubt
re-enable sync

It still worked for me with Big Sur, but I got rid of it anyway. iCloud Drive was smoother and less irksome and just worked better. For me the Windows version of iCloud worked much better than the Apple version of OneDrive.

Thanks for the reply. So this was seamless? you did not need to allow OD to resync at all it continued as it was under Catalina? Also may I ask did all other Microsoft apps work like word and powerpoint and did you have to re install any other programmes after the update to Big Sur?

I wanted the free extra space, but OneDrive was such a pain with syncing being particularly irksome compared to iCloud Drive. I don't worry about failing, a copy of everything is maintained locally. iCloud and OneDrive were to me strictly for convenience. When OneDrive was a bust compared to iCloud Drive I got rid of it.

I want to keep both iCloud and OD so that I have redundancy if one were to fail me.
