change name of device

used to be able to give personal names to devices but i can't see how to do it now

Change the name of your iPhone --> https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/change-the-name-of-your-iphone-iphf256af64f/ios

Change the name of your iPad --> https://support.apple.com/guide/ipad/change-the-name-of-your-ipad-ipad120528d3/ipados


If you mean on a computer, I use an older mac OS. I do not know which name you want to change and where you are seeing this. Some names may be the name of your user account in System Preferences > Users & Groups.If you're referring to a name seen on a network, check System Preferences > Sharing.
