Can't connect to coffee shop internet With Mac??!

Question:

Q:

I can't connect to coffee shop internet, but I can see the wifi and connect to it. The permission page to get to the internet won't load.

I have a brand new Mac Book Pro 13" running El Capitan 10.11.3

I went to a coffee shop and tried to connect to their public wifi. They require that you click "ok" on their terms of use page, but that page won't show up in my browser.

The page loaded fine on my iPhone 6 (iOs 9.2.1) with Safari. E.g. the coffee shop's permission page loaded and I was able to click ok and get on their wifi with my phone.

Things I tried without success:

* I tried Chrome and Safari.

* Relocating to another coffee shop. Any coffee shop with a page that's supposed to automatically load so you can say "ok" to the terms of use doesn't work. Other coffee shops without that additional layer of security were fine.

* I went into the Network Preferences-> Advanced -> Wi-Fi scrolled through and found the network, deleted it and tried getting into it fresh.

* I went into the Network Preferences-> Advanced -> TCP/IP and renewed the DNS lease.

* I went into the Network Preferences-> Advanced ->DNS and deleted the DNS address and Search Domains.

* I went into the Network Preferences and ran Diagnostics (told me to re-set the router, but the coffee shop wouldn't) and later the Assistant.

* I found the IP address for the router, entered it into my browser and tried to get to the webpage that way.

* I deleted all my Chrome cookies and history.

None of these things worked and I'm not sure what to do next.

Please help.

try entering 1.1.1.1 in the address bar. This is the splash page for ClourFlare, which is NOT part of the solution, it is just the absolute easiest numeric web page there is.

The appropriate procedure for setting up Wi-Fi in a different place than home is to create a new named "location", to avoid clobbering your home settings and starting from scratch:
