Hard to tell from what you have said.

Are you using the power adapter provided with the iPad?

If not, is your replacement power adapter rated to supply as much power as the original adapter?

If it is lower rated, are you using the iPad while trying to charge it?

Have you tried more than one adapter and more than one cable?
