projector and iPad

I work in a school and connect my iPad (iPadOS14.8) to the projectors/beamers with a hdmi-cable. Most of the time, there's no problem, but now I've got two projectors that first show what's on my iPad, and than begin to flash.

Sometimes I've got a grey screen and the projector doesn't seem to find my iPad anymore, sometimes the screen flashes on and out again, the whole time. Not so fun for the pupils with epilepsy ;)

Does anybody knows what's happening and what I can do about it?

If the two particular projectors are the same brand and configuration, it may be best to contact the manufacturer to check to see if firmware updates may be needed.

We also recommend making sure your iPad has a current backup, then updating to the latest version of iPadOS.
