I have a subscription to Apple TV and when I open the app I only have access to previously-purchased movies, but not to latest TV shows

How can I get latest Appletv+ app?

In the TV app, tap "originals" for all Apple TV+ content.

Update to iOS 15 at Settings > General > Software Update

do I not understand appleTV correctly? So I have the app on my TCL ROKU TV, and I have a subscription. Apparently I can't simply stream any movies without first purchasing them. If I want to watch a movie but not own it, I don't have that option. It appears that I'm paying for Apple to give me a list of movies I want to buy, and that is worthless to me. Can I not simply select a movie and stream it without buying it, or do I not understand Apple TV correctly?
