I recently published a novel on Apple Books. Unfortunately, the product was a draft and was published in error. I have the final that I want to replace the original submission. The e Pub version was done for me by an outside service and I have it in my e mail. How do I get the e Pub into Pages (in which the novel was created so that I can replace the bad version?

Apple added the ability to open iBooks Author (.iba) documents starting with Pages v10.1, and if your profile is accurate, you are on Mojave whose last version of Pages is v8.1. You also do not mention if that outside service created the EPUB in iBooks Author or another tool.
Pages v10.1 or later has no means to open EPUB documents that are not created in the Apple iBooks Author (.iba) document format. And when the Pages version is satisfied, all interactive components of an iBooks Author document are not implemented in the translation into a Pages document. For that, Apple has an article: Transition from iBooks Author to Pages.
You need to use the outside service to convert your final version to epub, remove the old version from the store, and publish the new one.
