But in that same webpage, Apple also states: AirPods can be used as Bluetooth headphones with Apple devices using earlier software and with non-Apple devices, but functionality is limited.
So seemingly yes, with limits.

I’d tend to expect them to work as would any other Bluetooth audio devices, and for the buttons to work with the traditional single-double-triple click audio controls. Past that, nothing. No spatial audio features, etc.
Thank you MrHoffman. I think I’ll pop into the apple store to find out a bit more on what those limitations might be. Great that it’s not an outright ‘No’ though. 🙂
