Can I crop a .mov file or zoom in?

My "oops" I'm actually using iMovie 7.1.4.
Ok I cropped the clip, now I cant figure how to export (share) the cropped clip. Every thing I do results in the original uncropped clip being exported. Im not used to this version,-- now I know why I stuck with the previous version of iMovie.
How do I apply changes and export this 1 clip?? Arrgh.

I dont think the crop as been applied yet, as I see a orange line on the bottom of the clip and a brightness and crop icon. How do I apply/ finalize the changes I want to make to the clip...? Ive been an hour trying to figure this out.

It only let me export "mobile" and I could use qT mode too, but the edits arent applied. Theres a basic step Im missing here.

The clip called "test" (a purple box w/a star) in the Event Library wont move anywhere. I tried dragging it to the project name above and even tried to create a new project. It wont attach to any project. Tried dragging it to "Drag media here to create new project". Nothing. Wont budge.
