Welcome to iPhone and Apple Support Comminities! Depending on where you bought your new iPhone it may already be on your Verizon account and just need to be activated for your plan.
If you did not buy from Verizon directly or using your Verizon account info somewhere else, you should contact Verizon first to make sure the current SIM card info is on, or can be added, to your plan. All the info they would need will be on the iPhone’s box on a sticker with barcodes.
