How to reset HomeKit (Home app) on MacOS

This is a question with an answer, I just wanted to document this to perhaps help someone else in future.

My Home app on macOS Monterey was borked. I could see all my devices, but not all my Rooms and other settings - everything was in "Default Room". You may have different issues.

Here's how I reset HomeKit on MacOS (only), and it worked fine for me.

  1. Go into System Preferences -> Apple ID -> iCloud, and then uncheck "Home".
  2. Go into the Library folder within your user folder (~/Library) and delete the entire "HomeKit" folder there.
  3. Restart the entire machine.
  4. Open the Home app, just to ensure there are no settings. Quit Home.
  5. Go into System Preferences again and turn on Home again.
  6. Wait a minute or two and everything should be synced up again!

You're welcome!

Try ⇧⌘ G (= Go to > Go to folder) than paste ~/Library/HomeKit/

Same mac and OS here.
