How to reset HomeKit (Home app) on MacOS

This is a question with an answer, I just wanted to document this to perhaps help someone else in future.

My Home app on macOS Monterey was borked. I could see all my devices, but not all my Rooms and other settings - everything was in "Default Room". You may have different issues.

Here's how I reset HomeKit on MacOS (only), and it worked fine for me.

Go into System Preferences -> Apple ID -> iCloud, and then uncheck "Home".
Go into the Library folder within your user folder (~/Library) and delete the entire "HomeKit" folder there.
Restart the entire machine.
Open the Home app, just to ensure there are no settings. Quit Home.
Go into System Preferences again and turn on Home again.
Wait a minute or two and everything should be synced up again!

Try ⇧⌘ G (= Go to > Go to folder) than paste ~/Library/HomeKit/

Same mac and OS here.

Worked for me also, on Big Sur (after migrating from a different MBP). I had already tried deleting the ~/Library/HomeKit/ folder but hadn't restarted after, so that part is key. Thanks!

Ah, mine was right there at the top level at ~/Library/HomeKit (and got re-created in the same place afterwards).

Perhaps it's in different locations in different versions of MacOS? (I was using Monterey)

If you can't find it, try searching for it.

Users > your name > Library > HomeKit

Utilisateurs > votre nom > Bibliothèque > HomeKit

or directly / ou directement : ⇧⌘L to reach Library / pour atteindre Bibliothèque

Hi,

I have the same issue.

I tried to go into the Library folder within my user folder (~/Library) to delete the entire "HomeKit" folder but I didn't find it.

Can you be more specific to tell me where can I find this folder in my library?

Thank you very much! I was having some issues with the "Camera Preview" which freezed for 3 days and, since then, nothing I did seemed to fix it. But when I followed these steps, the camera preview "thawed" and went back to working as before.

After adding a new iPhone to my network, I noticed that all of my HomeKit accessories became unresponsive. The solution was relatively simple. I reset the Wireless Access Point (router) that provided 2.4 GHz WiFi access to those devices. After that, the HomeKit accessories could once again be controlled.
