AirPlay in Monterey

AirPlay in Monterey

I updated my MacBook to MacOS Monterey 12.0.1 and I tried to AirPlay/mirror from my iPhone. But it didn't work. I have tried restarting both devices and even updated the MacOS again. I think AirPlay has disappeared or been disabled completely for some reason because I can't find this feature in other places like Display. I read a post by 9to5 Mac about this and according to them, there should be 'AirPlay Receiver' under 'Sharing' in 'System Preferences'. Mine does not have that (as shown in photos).

Is this feature only available on M1Mac?

How can I fix this issue? Thanks

I found the answer on the Apple website. AirPlay to Mac is only available on these devices.

MacBook Pro (2018 and later)
MacBook Air (2018 and later)
iMac (2019 and later)
iMac Pro (2017)
Mac mini (2020 and later)
Mac Pro (2019)
iPhone 7 and later
iPad Pro (2nd generation and later)
iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
iPad (6th generation and later)
iPad mini (5th generation and later)

Older iPhone, iPad, and Mac models may share content at a lower resolution to supported Mac models when "Allow AirPlay for" is set to "Everyone" or "Anyone on the same network" in Sharing preferences.

My guess is it requires an M1 Mac or a Mac with a T2 chip.

Probably correct. I'm not seeing that option either on my 2016 MacBook Pro.
