Just get an original Apple SSD and you have no issues…

Add back your apple ssd upgrade to on it and simply remove it back and add your none apple it works perfectly then because the logic board firmware needs to be update only with apple supplied ssd

I saw a video when it comes with carefully swapping the SSD to the original SSD for the firmware update. It was difficult to find a video of it to be able to install macOS Monterrey.

Go to iFixit and find your model and year Mac. It has excellent instructions for working on Macs (and PC's too)

This is simply on apple for doing this , its horrible software engineering code.

There is no need for the video simply insert the Apple Original ssd and upgrade to Monterey and removed it back insert your none apple one ssd and upgrade again it will work

IF the original SSD is not big enough to install the update and the new larger SSD was purchased for that reason, then what?

Probably best that you first clean up some **** on that SSD.....

You can do a clean install on your original SSD. Even a 128GB is bigg enough for a clean install with nothing else
