No able to access passwords in Safari Preferences

When I go to preferences-passwords in safari it won't accept my password so I can't access those passwords. It shows me a user name which is my name instead of my normal user ID. When I sign into iCloud on my Mac the first choice it gives me is my name and it won't accept my password. It then gives me a ln option to log in under a different user name. Then I log in under my normal user name. This doesn't happen on my phone or from a windows device. I believe there is a password in keychain that I must have used many years ago. How can I get into the safari password locker?

Hello Markymo777,

We see that you need help with saved passwords on your Mac.

For the best information, check this out: How to find saved passwords on your Mac.

When you open the Safari menu, choose Preferences, then click Passwords, you’ll be asked to enter your Mac user password, not your Apple ID password. So you’ll want to use the same password you use after turning on your Mac.

We hope that helps.
