When this device is connected to a wired Ethernet, or Wi-Fi network connection, it is supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint solution that frees you from any Canon software/driver installation.
With the printer networked and powered, visit System Preferences > Printers & Scanners panel. Select the MG3120 entry, right-click, and choose the Reset printing system… menu entry. This will allow you to remove the printer and then re-add it using AirPrint drivers instead of Canon drivers. Print something afterward to verify it is working properly.

Hello there, Imhaus!
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like your printer is not worjing with your Mac mini. First, we recommend trying the steps from Solve printing problems on Mac which can help with most printer issues.
If the same continues after those steps, you can check to be sure the drviers are properly installed by checking out this link for Support | MG Series | PIXMA MG3120 | Canon USA
Let us know the results and have a great day!
When setting up a printer on Mac and Win, use a USB cable direct connection from the Desktop USB port, and the printer. Initial setup is easiest that way. Instant recognition of the printer by the desktop, then you can do network and wireless tweaks after the initial setup.
