Does Apple Mail Privacy exist for the desktop app, or is it only for mobile?

I know the new iOS update makes tracking open rates from mobile email harder. But does this extend to the desktop app? I haven't been able to find the answer.

Issue with Block All Remote Content in Mail Privacy Protection in iOS 15? One of the three privacy features introduced in iOS 15 is Mail Privacy Protection, the setting for which is at Settings>Mail>Privacy Protection (pictured in the right frame below). Although it appears to give us two options which we can exercise separately, I find there is not a way to receive Remote Content in email automatically, if the option to Hide IP Address is turned On, even though the option to Block All Remote Content is turned Off. In the left frame note there is still a link to Load Content for newsletters and other email when Hide IP Address is turned On, even though the Block All Remote Content option is turned off. That causes two clicks to fully open an email message instead of one. When Hide IP Address and Block All Remote Content are Off images and other content is loaded automatically and the Load Content link does not appear. Have others noticed the same problem or was my update to iOS 15 corrupted somehow. Hiding Mail Counter on the Mail App I am receiving much different spam mail from different mail addresses and hence I would like to hide the counter. Every time I open the mail app, I see a counter showing 2, 3, 5 or 6 mails I need to delete them many times in a day and It is too distracting.

iOS keeps enabling 'Protect Mail Activity' I disable PMA because I want to enable 'block all remote content' (why enabling PMA not only disables BARC, but hides it, is beyond me). Yet eventually I open an email and find the images load and I have to redo this setting. Usually this has been happening after a few weeks of changing the setting, and I've just been reapplying my preferences without dwelling on it. But the last instance was after just a couple of days and I'm now getting annoyed and also now wondering what other privacy settings iOS might be stealthily changing. Any idea why this might be? I believe an iOS security update was pushed in the last couple of days that apparently didn't need accepting, so I'm wondering if stealth patches like that might be the cultprit.
