Running Catalina 10.15.7 on MBA 2020. All of a sudden, I cannot print with my Canon MP495 and get the" Printer- "filter" failed "message. I have tried all suggestions: turning Mac and printer off. Deleting printer and reinstalling. Resetting printer system (which deletes all other printers, too)..Reinstalling printer. Even reinstalling Catalina. Tried connecting via cable instead of wifi And scanning for malware and viruses. Nothing I do will allow me to use the printer directly. I can share the printer with another MacBook running 10.15.7 and am able to print through that computer when it is on and nearby. What else should I be looking at?

Canon no longer supposrt this model printer, and none of the troubleshooting suggestions worked for this problem.

I went through all of the suggestions in Solve printing problems on Mac several times, and nothing worked. After spending at least 6 hours on this, deleting printers, restarting multiple times and reinstalling 10.15.7, I did the following: I deleted the printers, reset printing system again. Then I deleted all files on my MBA that had MP495 (the printer model) in the file name. I restarted computer again. then reinstalled 10.15.7. I reinstalled the printer letting Catalina find the required printer software. Then restarted the MBA, and it worked.
