There is a model and/or configuration number which should

designate which build year, basic data on hardware; and color.

As such there are identification numbers across most regions

that detail each build model Mac. Page(s) online such as this:

• Identify your MacBook Air model - Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201862

The 'About this Mac' from Apple (icon) menu is a place to start.

Fair lookup mac specs @ everymac.com online (link) yields clues.

One thing we never need to see: "your product Serial number."

Not sure the what or why of this Q. ~ There's only so few colors!

Was there any sales information with MacBook on purchase?

The retail or refurbish package materials usually have this info.
