MS word asks to verify each time

Please can someone tell me how to avoid this time consuming and frustrating challenge that every time I go to open a word doc the system says it has to verify Word. Really grateful for help with this.

Is there a way to have updated software to be verified automatically after the update? MS Office programs are frequently updated. After each update, when you start them, you waste 3-5 minutes staring at the message "Verifying MS word" or similar. Sometimes you are about to enter a meeting and cannot spare that time. Why can't the system verify the software automatically and silently after each update rather than when you restart the software?

Verifying "Microsoft Word"... I have a 2019 iMac (model iMac19,1) with a 6-Core Intel Core i5 CPU running at 3GHz, 8GB RAM and a 1TB HDD (APPLE HDD ST1000DM003). I'm running MacOs Monteray (12.0.1). I have Microsoft Office for Mac installed and mostly use Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Pretty much every time I try to launch any of the Microsoft Office apps I get a message: Verifying "Microsoft ...." with a progress bar that does not correctly indicate any real progress of the task reportedly being executed. The time it takes for this progress bar to disappear and the app to launch varies from about a minute to 15 mintues (when I usually give up and restart in Windows using Bootcamp). There has been a similar thread with many user users complaining about this problem but after 8 pages of comments there still does not seem to be any indicatiopn of the cause nor any real attempt by Apple to solve this. The thread has since gone stale and I was wondering if anyone had any resolution?

Locate the Word application in the Finder, and then right-click on it, then choose Open. This will cause the operating system to perform a security check of the application, and eventually pop a dialog that the application is from an outside developer, and there should be an OK button. Click that, and Word will launch. Once you quit Word, it should open its documents normally without the challenge dialog.
