How can I tell that my phone is backed up to the icloud?

Go to Settings > [username] > iCloud > iCloud Backup to view the last backup date and time.
Go to Settings > [username] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups to view the backup size.
You cannot view the contents of an iCloud Backup.
You can view synced data (e.g., iCloud Photos, iCloud Drive, Contacts, etc) by using an internet browser and logging into www.icloud.com
