iPad/iPhone power adaptors

I recently purchased an iPad (9th gen). It came with a 20W USP-C power adaptor. Can older power adaptors with lower wattage ratings be interchanged using earlier Apple-supplied USB-Lightning connecting cables?

Yes. You can use a 10W/12W USB Power Adapter with your iPad - with appropriate charging cables. Charging will be considerably slower than when using the supplied 20W USB-C Power Adapter.

However, a 5W iPhone Power Adapter is inadequate to reliably charge your iPad. If the 5W Power Adapter works at all, charging will be excruciatingly slow.
