HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...

Why do we need this?

Because your system software is outdated. Safari like any browser requires your Mac OS X to be updated to meet minimum requirements.

You also need to make sure you have the Security Update 2009-001 installed.

Go to your Apple Menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Updates

After the updates are installed, repair permissions.

Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Make sure you always have enough free disk space available. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*
