macbook pro imac connection
I have the new macbook pro 14 " and would like to connect it to my old imac (20212) and use it as an extra screen, is it possible?

Although your iMac could be compatible, unfortunately Apple removed the Target Display Mode client in macOS Big Sur. Your new 14-inch MacBook Pro runs macOS Monterey, which is newer than macOS Big Sur, and sadly doesn't support using Target Display Mode.
Short answer: no.
