OLD Iweb site - seems to be still "there" how can I get rid of it?

Hi everyone

I need some advice in regards to getting rid of my ancient I-Web website - formerly hosted via mobile.me.

It has popped up for one of my clients and it really should not be out there anymore - I have a new website since many many years ....

Very grateful for any pointer to where and how I can get rid of this misleading rudiment.

Thanks and kind regards

Kerstin

Make sure the domain name points to your new website.

Also, do you have different web hosts for each of the sites? Did you cancel out the host for the first, older site? Contact them and make sure it's still not hosted and available.

I contacted my hosting company and the mystery is solved:

"Your old website which was plain html was placed in a subfolder in case you ever wanted it for any reason.

We can either delete it for you or we can mark it as non indexable so that Google etc cannot see it. It will then over time drop out of their index.

Please advise what if anything you’d like us to do. "

It will now be deleted - time to let go!

Thanks for everyone's support and help here!

Much appreciated and pointed me in the right direction to get the issue sorted!!!

Hey There!

Unless you are more tech literate, there is a tool of the internet you may not know. All websites registered online are required by law to register a WHOIS. That is a database with information such as the site owner, domain host, etc.

There are several look up sites (I used the first hit on Google which was (https://whois.domaintools.com)

Putting in the link of your old site it came up with information. Included in this information is the domain server (www.publicdomainregistry.com). From there you should look for a "Contact Us" link on their page, and try to manually have them remove the site.

Best of Luck

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

To be honest - I did not do anything with it.

I created a new website with a different provider and a different hosting company.

I am not very technical ........

The client googled me and found the old page .....

Someone else found it as well ...

This is my current website:

This is the link my client used which goes to the dead website:

I really have no idea how I can kill it 😳

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

Kind regards

Kerstin
