Apple iMac 27-Inch "Core i5" 2.7 (Mid-2011)

I would like to continue to use this device, but it has bad pixels and a serious flicker in the primary display.

2nd Display Support: Dual/Mirroring (x2)

2nd Max. Resolution:2560x1600

Apple reports that this model simultaneously supports the native resolution of the built-in display and up-to two 30-inch external displays (2560x1600) by using both Thunderbolt ports.

I am considering using a Thunderbolt to HDMI converter to extend the life of this computer. I have not used it in awhile.

Is it possible to do this on my "low-quality" model? If I successfully use an external monitor, can I turn off the iMac display?

Thanks.

The internal display can not be turned off.

You would need to open up the unit and disconnect the internal display.

Plus according to the "Video Support" spec's at > https://support.apple.com/kb/SP623?locale=en_US

That iMac supports "a" 30-inch display at (2560 by 1600 pixels) on "an" external display

"a" an "an" suggest that it only supports one external display, no?
