Hello, I just sent my iPhone XS Max back to apple for a trade. I was wondering once they approve the trade in will the amount go back on my credit card if I used that instead of a debit card

If you arranged the trade while doing an online purchase from the Apple store it should credit the payment method that you used for the online purchase (it did for me). Also see the information in the FAQ section of Apple Trade In - Apple
