Why did apple do away with the magnetic charger in favor of the USB-C charger?
Two features which drew me to Apple (way back in 2010), was the magnetic breakaway charger and the backlit keyboard. I don't expect the keyboard feature to go anywhere, as everyone now has backlit keyboards but I was wondering why do away with the breakaway charger (that IMHO was better as a safety feature than the USB-C charger).

Features / ports come and go... change is inevitable as witnessed by the return of magsafe, SDXC, HDMI slots

The MagSafe charger is back with the MacBook Pros that were just released. See the following from https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro-14-and-16/specs/

So is an adapter available that can be used to make it a mag safe from a USB-C? If so, great, if not to bad, I’m not replacing my MacBook that I just got in March.
There are a number of 3rd party magnetic USB-C adapters available. You can find them with an internet search. I haven't tried any of them. I've used both MagSafe from Apple on my previous Macs and USB-C from Apple and I'm happy with the USB-C connector on my Mac.
