Monterey install crashes and original SSD died. Thank you.

MBP 2016 13" NTB.

SSD died.

Battery died.

Display died.

Battery and Display were replaced by Apple for free. Thank you.

SSD replacement covers only 2017-2018 models.

Monterey can't be installed on non original SSD. Thank you.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

Yes, that's correct. Once I was satisfied with Monterey, I reinstalled it on the internal SSD. However, I first moved Big Sur from the internal SDD to the external SSD.


BTW, the Samsung T5 connects to the Mac mini via a 10Gb/s link (USB 3.1 (Gen 2), a.k.a. 3.2). I have seen some very fast transfer rates for large files.
