Magic mouse stops to scroll macOS Monterey

Hi everybody!

After returning from a log out, the magic mouse simply stopped to scroll on any app. Have anybody faced this issue?

I have to turn off the mouse or restart the computer to make it work normally again.

Apple Service Tech solved this one. [K the cyclist is the man]

Error conflict between SDD hard drive & Hard Drive.

Shift-Option-Command-R

Erased, OS re-installed, Monterey 12.1

Magic Mouse I & II scrolling is functioning, everything else seems to be working.

I will now leave my, SDD & Hard drive to manage, Monterey iMac platform, and applications.

Downloads saving to iCloud, and a LaCie Porsche Design Mobile Drive 2 TB drive.

Same here. Once I am done with a session and the mouse goes to sleep along with the MacBook this happens when I return. The magic mouse will not scroll until I either restart Mac or shutoff bluetooth on the mouse and reconnect. Frustrating for something so simple that worked before the update. Not sure of a fix and I assume this is 100% a software issue since the timing of the issue is right after I updated the os on my MacBook.

edwardfromwilmington answered: "Check charge level

we plug the mouse in for about 5 minutes and it works ok"

Thanks for reminding, me. My error. I omitted to mention the older;

• AA lithium battery Magic Mouse &

• current youngest Magic Mouse

✅ were fully charged.

Good point. I recommend anyone else, fault-finding cycles through hardware fixes first.

Nonetheless, the tell, battery level, impeding Magic Mouse scrolling wasn't an issue, was;

• scrolling was usable recovery mode.

Mac platforms have been my PC systems since 1992.

Hardware problems have been rare, it's generally, software.

My only recommendation to others is to work through;

• step by step

• eliminating

• one issue

• after the other

• with patience

I appreciate your comment 🎯

edwardfromwilmington, I must remember to

☑️ recharge both Magic Mouse overnight,

this scrolling problem is not going to be solved in one day.

❌ Magic mouse fails to scroll in macOS Monterey 12.1

❌ Character Viewer fails to post into written text

❌ only drag & drop, along with copy & paste, works

• disconnected paired Bluetooth Magic Mouse

• left one paired, spare, Magic Mouse - double AA lithium batteries

• Shut down the platform iMac 27" late 2015

☑️ restarted

☑️ Command (⌘) and R. mode

• recovery-mode applied the Disk Utility function

✅ Magic Mouse worked as normal, addressing Disk First Aid

• First Aid was run through all disk drives

• in recovery base scrolling works

☑️ restarted

❌ Magic mouse still fails to scroll macOS Monterey 12.1

❌ Character Viewer fails to post into written text

❌ only drag & drop, along with copy & paste, works

Why, does Magic Mouse Scrolling fail?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can anyone help prove to me, by helping out with this dilemma, that the Simon Sinek

• WHY

is, still, around in Apple, alive and well?

___________

Observation:

Since Steve Jobs has left the building.

Simon Sinek's, WHY, is fading away.

Apple culture seems to have gradually reverted to the pre Jobs paradigm.
