If I bring my 13" MacBook Pro into the Apple Store for a screen replacement due to delineation around the edges, do I really need to do a backup since this is a screen issue only?

In my opinion, if I have any data on my MacBook Pro that I value, I really need to do a backup even if I'm not taking it in for service. Failures, glitches, hardware problems, software problems, fires, theft, accidental damage, etc can happen at any time.
