time machine

Hey, just wondering...

Is time machine still supported? I simply cannot get it to work. Tried different network shares, different hosts, local, USB .. Been trying like for five days... no matter what I try I get...

Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to "time_machine". An error occurred while preparing the back up".

Simply cannot get this to work.

Any ideas? I'd love to hear em.

Think I've finally found the error. One disk mounted as read only. After I disconnected the drive time machine started working. Found this in the logs...

Sounds like you are using a NAS (network attached drive). What specific NAS are you using? Maybe your NAS n\software needs an update.

Two users have reported that after Manterey upgrade their Drobo and anther attached ™ drive would periodically eject and not be able to make backups.

If you connect a drive via USB can you backup using ™.

I was using time machine with an open media vault time machine activated share. It was working till it wasn't. Since then I have reformatted the open media vault's drives. Completely deleted the system and re-installed, deleted version five and installed version six. Could not get it to work. Always the same error.

Subsequently I have removed the drives, connected them via usb. Re-initialised and re-formated the drives using disk utility. Still fails with the same error. I just do not see why this keeps failing.

I really need to get this working as I have no backups.
