Error in Shortcuts: "Conversion Error - Append to Note failed because Shortcuts couldn't convert from Text to Note."

I'm trying to create a shortcut to append text (thru Siri) to an existing note. 4 commands are as per attached screen grab. It fails on the last one.

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 15

Quick notes always opens a previous note I like the idea of Quick Notes, but when I open the Quick Note it opens a previous note. I wanted a blank note, not something to add on to a previous note. Am I missing something?
