Payment method - Applecare

Why is apple asking me to update my payment method? It's now saying that I have to update my payment method to renew my AppleCare but it renewed just fine automatically the last few months. I have been using the same card (discover) and I checked my statement and it changed fine last month. Nothing has changed about my card info and I just confirmed my card information again and it didn't renew. I prefer to use this card for my monthly payments and everything else has gone though fine; even my Crunchyroll subscription which I have through apple. Is this a frequent error? Do I have to switch which card I use?

No one here works for Apple, nor can anyone here answer your questions.
