Final Cut Pro X 10.6 quitting unexpectedly

I'm running Final Cut Pro 10.6 on MacOS Monterey (Mac mini M1 16GB) and it quitting unexpectedly every 5-10 minutes, reloading extremely slow, lugging playback and overall program became significantly slower compared to the previous fcpx version. When Apple are you going to release an update with a fix and how can I downgrade to the previous version? Thanks!

Mac mini, macOS 12.0

You can see if resetting FCP preferences will help by holding command and option while launching FCP. The default untitled library will load. Open the library you were working on, set the prefs they way you like and see if the problem has been fixed.

There is a known issue with certain audio types in 10.6 so it's possible resetting prefs won't fix it. To downgrade, it's a simple process of copying FCP 10.5.4 from your TimeMachine or other backup into your Applications folder.

I'm curious, are you using a 2 monitor external setup? FCPX 10.4.6 will crash consistently on startup if I have two external monitors connected. Removing one will allow me to run my MacBook Pro M1 screen display and one external monitor. This is only happens with FCPX (that I know of). All other apps run normal with 2 external monitors.

I've performed all the presets/wipes/re-install etc.

FWIW, the M1 MacBook Pro only supports one external monitor, so it is not entirely surprising that running an unsupported configuration has issues.

I have used FCP on my 2019 16" with two external displays (although only occasionally) and it did not crash, but then this model supports such a configuration.

I share the same pain. MacBook Pro M1 here, Monterey and FCP 10.6. Reloading certain libraries are dreadfully slow, playback is okay on my end but it keeps crashing randomly.

On the other hand, DaVinci Resolve, which is a software developed by another company runs butter smooth, much better than Apple's very own editing software Final Cut Pro.
