I took my sim card out of my Iphone xr, and now it's not working. What can I do?

My apple iphone isn't working because I took the sim card out and now I can't make call or receive calls, but I can go on Facebook, messenger, check email and etc. What happened?

Your iPhone requires a SIM card to make or receive calls.
