My AirPods don’t associate to my Apple ID

My AirPods don’t associate to my Apple ID, instead they are under my brother in the Find My app. Why is this? He has never connected to them as he is across the province. Is there a bug with family sharing?

He must have connected them at one time or another. If not, why would the AirPods associate themselves to your brother';s account and not some other random person? Seems like too much of a coincidence. Here is what he should do:

With a web browser, go to: https://www.iCloud.com and sign in with his Apple ID. Open Find My iPhone and select All Devices (at the top). Then click the AirPods, select 'Erase', and select Next until the device is erased. Finally click "X" next to remove the AirPods.

One of the common problems used to be that sharing meant everyone simply used the same Apple ID, which caused all kinds of problems with messages and contacts. This has been less of a problem since Family Sharing was introduced, provided it is set up correctly,

I think you need to provide a lot more detail about the devices and how things are shared on Apple ID.

Please DO NOT post sensitive or personal data here, we only need placeholders to understand how the share is set up.
