camera problem

There are some lines shown in the pictures, especially when the camera aims at digital screens, like a computer screen. Why does that happen?

Well, it does’t happen all the time. And I kind of notice that the lines, regular or irregular, on photos only occur when camera is close to the laptop or is shot against the large digital screen far away. However, the issue appears occasionally, which means that sometimes the camera functions quite well, even if it aims at digital screens, but other times everything seems normal until I take photos and surprisingly find out that the lines show up in them. Look forward to your help. Thank you. 🤝🤝

(ps: it’s a picture shot when the camera is close to the laptop)

Hi,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with lines on your photos. We'd like to know more so we can help.

For the lines on you pictures that are not digital screens, does this happen to all pictures or only some of them. If it's not all of them, can you see a similarity between the photos that it happens on? For example, are they taken inside or outside? Do you notice the lines when you view the preview or does it only show up after you take the photo?

Let us know and we'll continue to help with this.

Take care!

听田,

Thanks for clarifying when you see these lines.

From what you've described, this is expected as the image on the computer is likely refreshing at a different rate that the camera is. When the two devices are out of sync, you will be lines or flickering. This may help to explain it a bit better:

What are the lines on a computer monitor when filmed on a camera?

Since you mentioned that you are not having issues with the camera quality at other times, it sounds like this is what you're experiencing.

Hope that helps answer your question.

Cheers!
