Can I get a refund of my remaining year of AppleCare?

I want to trade in my current one year old iPad for one with more storage. Can I transfer my remaining AppleCare to the new device or get a refund for the remaining year?

You can't transfer it to another device but you can cancel for a partial refund. See: Cancel or change the payment method for your AppleCare plan - Apple Support
