Transfer new iPhone: Not enough space

Hi,

I'm helping someone out who cannot transfer her data from an iPhone8 (256GB) > iPhone13 (128GB).

Her old iPhone only has around 60GB of data. The new one should be plenty, but with the direct transfer it does not work. Not enough space available? I tried to back it up with a PC and restore this backup, but the same message appears?

The OS would account for something, but how can this be as the iPhone storage only displays around 60GB of data ?

So yeah, I'm stuck too :-)

Any suggestions ?

Hi Spacekiek,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. If you are transferring information from one iPhone to another iPhone, here are links to help:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

When you are transferring, be sure that the new iPhone has enough phone storage for the data. You can find this by going to Settings > General > About > Available. This is different from iCloud storage.

Have a great day.
