iBooks Mac: Fast highlight option

On Mac, whenever I highlight I have to select the text, right click, and choose a highlight color. Gets old. I'd like an option to turn on "fast highlight" so text selections automatically get highlighted (similar to iOS). Is there a way to do this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

answered my own question. you hold down the command key while you select the text. awesome!
