I have macOS high sierra 10.13.6 and trying to update my software so that I can install a program that requires mac os 10.14 at least. Can you please tell me how to update my computer software?

Additionally, when I go to the apple icon on the top left, select about this mac and then software update I don't see an option to download any new software.

Thank you,

Gus

Yes, you can upgrade to Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, or the latest which is Monterey.

Starting with Catalina, older 32-bit applications will no longer run. So you may want to verify that you are prepared for that if you go past Mojave. In fact you should check on all apps that are important to you, that they all will run (or that you can update them so they will) under whatever new MacOS you choose to move to.
