Help! old Macbook pro seems useless
I want to update my older laptop so i can download my apps. How do i force it to update? It says no updates are available but won't even let me download google!

You will have to check your tech specs on the Mac if it is compatible with a newer macOS
The older macOS installer backups on this server:

verify you are using the Safari browser to download/initiate the macOS links.

How old is it?
Older machines can only be updated so far.
Also, Google Chrome requires macOS X El Capitan 10.11 or later.
