Ear speaker repair

My iphone 12 has a speaker issue which i read was a common fault on the 12. I took my phone in to the istore and thought because it was a common problem it would be sorted out immediately, but was informed by the consultant that it will take 5-10 says to sort out as parts need to be ordered etc.and that I won’t be getting a loan phone during this time because I didn’t purchase device from the istore. This was highly disappointing as i use my phone for work purposes and this is a huge inconvenience. I have been using apple since the iPhone 4 and this is the first time i had to take an iphone for repairs. We pay premium price for apple products for their quality and apparently customer service but I’m doubting the latter. How long does it take to change the ear speaker?

No guarantee of a rapid turnaround. As Lyssa said in store they repair screens, Batteries, or swap out whole phones. It could be sent away for repair.

Express Replacement is only a feature of AppleCare+

Always keep a spare iphone in preference to trade-in if the phone is important, or take out AppleCare+

If you mean an Apple Store, then it's likely they just don't keep the part in stock.

What shop, exactly, did you go to? My understanding for repairs is that very few are handled at an Apple store. I believe it's just the touch screen and battery that can be repaired in my area. For anything else, the phone would be sent to a depot or just swapped out for a fee.
