Can any data be recovered from erased iMac after it is

I have erased and overwritten my internal hard drive of my 2009 iMac as per Apple Support advice prior to arranging for it to be recycled.

Disc Utility now shows a disc :Untitled

SATA Internal Physical Volume + Mac OS (Extended Journeled 995.35 GB

Disc Images

OS X Base System

Used 1.29 GB. Free 719./5 MB

My wife is worried that someone could still be able to recover our data and would prefer I keep the old Mac.I am unable to reassure her. I have now replaced it.So my question is: have I done enough or will I have to keep ad infinitum.

iMac, macOS 10.13

I agree with hcsitas... your data is history.

It's an expensive and time consuming proposition to attempt any sort of data recovery on a wiped drive. If you're not a high-profile individual with classified government secrets hidden away on your Mac, then you have no worries. Your old Mac will end up in a pile of scrap waiting its turn to be deconstructed and recycled.

Enjoy your new Mac. 🙂
