i have had iPad for several years was left in a home we rent no way to contact person who left behind how can it be unlocked

Assuming the iPad is disabled or Activation Locked, the device is useless to anyone other than the original owner. Unless you are unable to independently trace and contact the owner, you’ll not be able to use the iPad.

You would be best advised to responsibly recycle the iPad via an Apple Store.

If you were the original purchaser and can prove it with

a receipt from Apple or Apple authorized iPad retailer showing

the serial number of the iPad, make a genius bar

reservation and bring in the receipt, iPad, and government

issued photo ID to Apple and they may assist in resolving the problem.

If the iPad was purchased used or there is no receipt, the AppleID and passcode must be recovered 

It is highly recommended that you make a Genius Bar Reservation to avoid delay at the Apple store

Hi i also have this issue. my ipad was in storage for 4 years while i was in another country. during that time my email address changed and the old address is not accessible. there has to be an answer. apple store referred me to iforget but that did not help.
